Jump in the mud

We go to festivals to watch our favorite bands, re-live that childhood game - stuck in the mud, and wash using baby wipes, longing for that next shower. Yet at this years Isle of Wight festival, my first after being a festival virgin, I found something else to watch. People.

Festivals churn out some of the best ensembles of the year and can you blame us when there are thousands of people to impress? Watching the fashion saunter by with my comrades, sweetened the stale smell of the long toilet queue, and was the talking point for much of our time, whether we looked in lust or uttered words of disapproval. I was bombarded with emails from TOPSHOP and ASOS claiming their festival fashion musts, so what came out on top at this festival?

Of course wellies were in high demand this year as within minutes of arriving at the campsite our clothes became wet while we rushed along with others to create our tent. Hunter is the ultimate in wellie chic giving an equestrian twist on the festival uniform of sunnies, shorts and boots. I was impressed by a variation on the wellie, modeled by a group of girls in front of us in the 2 HOUR queue for a bus! Sporting a jodpur boot style wellie, a pair in yellow and pink, these girls had festival style and protection without the snag of the bulky footwear. Mini wellies: excellent!

The high waisted denim short was very popular this year. Its the perfect retro summer look. I took my denim babies to the festival and teamed them with a cropped t-shirt, allowing a tad of tummy into the sun. Captured by our washed out disposables, I looked as though I had travelled back to the 60's with my long messy hair; tamed by a band of pale pink flowers. What a hippie! I do love my light wash TOPSHOP highwaisters but I think my ultimate pair, a pair I long to pull on would be Levi's. Stoned washed and slightly baggy for that worked and casual look. My perfect companion for the beach on these lovely summer days. One day.

But back to the existing, these short shorts carry a hazard. Beware of the saggy bums popping out! I am all for the small, but this is not a pretty sight. Even the males in our IOW group displayed looks of dismay. DON'T DO IT!

Sometimes you long for an item of clothing, that nothing seems acceptable until you find the right one. Its the long jumpsuit for me. A few appearances at the IOW had my comrades and I lusting after them, following its stride before turning each other and knowing exactly what the other was thinking. I WANT IT!
Its an item that has to be exactly perfect before considered for purchase. The print, cut and style all have to be taken for scrutinisation. I think my perceived jumpsuit would be of the sleeveless, loosely tailored variety. Effortlessly cool, flowing around me. Not necessarily printed, just one quirky colour would do with the ability to unbutton the front to reveal an exciting t-shirt below, or button up and layer with a jacket of denim or biker leather. Give me time, I will find you!
